**HUDSON PRAIRIE MISSION STATEMENT **
The staff, students, and families of Hudson Prairie Elementary School will nurture individuals to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to be successful, responsible, and contributing citizens to the world.
Hudson Prairie Elementary has a tradition of gathering on September 11th to honor and recognize the everyday heroes that make our country a great one. Another tradition is say thank you by giving a high five to our heros!
Mr. Johnson, Hudson High School Science Teacher, brought in baby quail to Mrs. Schroeder's 5th grade and Mrs. Delong's 1st grade classrooms at Hudson Prairie. Ninth graders at the high school have been learning about the biology of quail and hatched over 160 eggs in class. The students were able to hold the quail and Mr. Johnson and shared a mini science lesson.
Hudson High School students held a PepFest at Hudson Prairie to celebrate Homecoming Week!
Hudson Prairie Kindergarten classes visited Afton Apple Orchard. The students learned how apples grow, how apples are picked, and they tasted apple cider and apple donuts!
Fall Run Club started at Hudson Prairie. Run Club is for all students to run during recess and earn feet charms. Each charm is one mile. The Wellness Team tracks the number of miles and will host a Pumpkin Run at the end of the month.
Our students did a buddy activity today called "Write and Run". 4th graders helped their 2nd grade buddies write a descriptive sentence about their shoes. After the sentence was written, partners ran a lap. This was repeated 4 times with the students building a descriptive paragraph and completing a 1 mile run
October is Fire Prevention Month! Hudson Prairie Kindergarteners were visited by the Hudson Fire Department to learn about fire safety. The students learned about all the equipment a firefighter wears and sat in the brand new fire truck
Fourth graders at Hudson Prairie planted milkweed plugs, which were provided through a grant received from MonarchWatch.org. This is part of a large scale project the school is working on to improve the grounds and provide a new habitat for monarchs and other pollinators.
Hudson Prairie 4th Graders were "Mad Scientists" for a day. They experimented with electrical circuits and the physics of building a freestanding marshmallow tower.
Hudson Prairie students collected over twenty-five County Market boxes full of donations for County Market's Stuff-A-Truck Food Drive for Charity. All the items donated will be delivered to food cupboards around the Hudson area.
